Do-It-Today List: book yourself in for that haircut, wax or spa treatment #DITList June 21, 2012
Posted by CMK in do-it-today to do list.add a comment
I keep promising myself I’ll book in a hair cut, I’ll get my legs waxed before I go on holiday or that I will slow down and have a pamper day.
Never happens.
So today – clear a day in your diary and book it in.
Worse case scenario – pop in to boots on the way home and pick up a do it at home kit and use it today.

It is time for the Cheltenham Science Festival again. It has been on all week, but the weekend is really the best time to visit with all the extra events/tents (many of them free) and a new addition this year: Cheltenham Editions . Bite Sized 15 minute talks from key speakers for just £2. Fantastic.
If you are in the area: worth a visit. Even if you are not in the immediate area: still worth a visit.
Do-It-Today List: hurry up and buy a fathers day card #DITlist June 15, 2012

Father’s day is on the 17th of June. If you haven’t done it already go out and buy a father’s day card (or order online). You are running out of time (particularly if you need to post your card).
Do-It-Today List: Update your Birthday List #DITList June 12, 2012
Posted by CMK in 15 Minute Intervals, do-it-today to do list, Organisation.add a comment
When I was a kid I knew everyone’s birthdays off by heart. Being the “organised one” friends would frequently ask me to remind them about our other friend’s birthdays. Once I went to university (and started using Facebook) Facebook tended to remind me about birthdays and over time I would forget birthdays or not know people’s birthdays unless Facebook prompted me.
I now rarely use Facebook and I certainly don’t sign in every day (or even every week). I now tend to miss birthdays.
So today – log into Facebook, check the birthday list and import them into a diary or calendar you actually use daily/check so that you remember in advance. Even if you use Facebook regularly it is still nice to include the important birthdays in your calendar.
Do-It Today List: Review and Renew #DITlist June 11, 2012
Posted by CMK in do-it-today to do list.add a comment
On my “someday” list (the list which I never seem to get to until it is urgent or I have missed my chance) is “renew railcard”. Regardless of whether you are a regular train user or not a railcard is a useful addition to the collection of cards you carry around in your purse.
Whether it is to save some money travelling to London for the Olympics or simply in case of future travel. Make sure that renewing your railcard in on the list and bump it up to the do it today list so you can relax and forget about it again. There are no annoying emails to remind you to do this 1 month in advance, 2 weeks and then 2 days… consider this your email.
At the same time check whether any of the other cards in your purse and an expiry date and schedule to renew them in your next 15 minute interval.
Do-It Today List: Sort out your vouchers and coupons #DITlist June 10, 2012

I find that I always end up with coupons and vouchers stuffed in my purse or bag from supermarkets or retailers like WH Smith or Boots. Take some time today to sort these out.
1. Bin the expired ones.
2. Check out the offer – and make a decision would you use it? Would it make you a potential saving down the line? Don’t just keep it “just in case”.
I found one for 20% off books. I have a pile of unread books in my house I don’t want to just buy a book for the sake of using the voucher, but at the same time I know I will make another book purchase in the future, so I consider if there is a book I particularly want and consider if I would make the purchase now. I make the decision not to. Because there are always book sales, any book I want it likely to come down in price.
3. If you have an organisational obsession like myself you might even note the expiry date in the diary and plan when you might use it and what for.

Buy a Bike #somethingfortheweekend June 9, 2012

I have made the decision to buy a bike. Great for keeping active, handy to use around town and something to do on the weekend. Not to mention Bristol is very bike friendly.
If you don’t own a bike why don’t you own one? I suggest you go out and treat yourself to one this weekend. Plenty of places do “refurbished” second hand bikes, or there is always the police auctions and you get great bikes at affordable prices.
If you are lucky enough to work at an office that offers a bike to work scheme – seriously look into this. It makes the bike (and all the accessories) much more affordable.
So this weekend, buy a bike. (or at least windowshop) and check whether you have a bike to work scheme listed on your benefits.
It will keep you occupied for weekends to come (and help keep you fit and healthy).
Do-It Today List: Schedule lunch with an old friend #DITlist June 8, 2012

Everyone has someone they haven’t caught up with in a while, or that they have accidentally bumped into in the street and parted with promises of grabbing a coffee.
So today send them an email, or give them a quick call and put something in the diary! Take the initiative. Don’t use the excuse of being busy, make the time.
P.S. don’t even think about cancelling last minute.
